HISTORY OF MILLTOWN SCHOOLS

A primary school (one room) was built at Union Mills, on School St., and was discontinued in 1919,
when the students came to Milltown Schools.
Grade 1 was in the field directly opposite the residence of John Monaghan, Pleasant St.   Teacher was Miss Gretchen Laughlin.
Grade 2 was near the residence of George Casey, Queensway, with M. Cecelia Osborne, Teacher.
Grade 3, a separate building about 100 ft. from the high school structure, with Miss Conelly as teacher.
The old High School building was located on the spot now occupied by the Milltown tennis courts.
The first floor  was occupied by Grade 4, teacher Miss Grace Busby, Grade 5, Miss Florence Osborne, and Grade 6, Miss Barbour.
The second floor was occupied by Grade 7, and Grade 8.
Grade 9, 10 and 11 were all in one large classroom on the second floor, as well. Hugh Titus was principal.
