ST. STEPHEN – “The students and graduates of the Milltown Superior School are hoping for a good attendance at their school
reunion in August, 2013.
“The school closed in 1962 and the youngest graduates are now 68 years of age” says Judy Thompson of Calais, a 1955 graduate.
“ This may be our last hurrah!” said Thompson. She said since the school closed, there have been several reunions, and a small organizing committee would like to host one more. By holding the reunion Aug. 9, 10, and 11, in conjunction with celebrations during the annual International Homecoming Festival, Thompson said “ The committee hopes former students and graduates will use the opportunity to reconnect with relatives and old friends that they might not have seen for awhile “.
All the reunion activities will take place at St. Patrick’s Hall. Registration will be held Friday evening. A dinner and dance will take place Saturday evening featuring the band Stepping Out. A Sunday brunch will be held Sunday. Jean Comeau is in charge of meal preparations for the reunion said Thompson.
Shirley Young is the chair of the reunion organizing committee. Thompson said the first notices for the reunion are expected to go out to possible participants early in January.
